German striker was said to be suffering from 'circulatory problems', indicated by loss of focus, during defeat.

RB LEIPZIG striker Timo Werner was forced off the pitch after half an hour against Besiktas with dizziness.

The hostile atmosphere in Turkey left the German unfocused and desperately trying to block out the sound by sticking his fingers in his ears.

Werner, 21, was even given ear plugs by a Leipzig coach.

But the problem persisted and he was substituted 31 minutes into the Champions League clash, with his side 1-0 down.

Werner is reported by CapaMag as saying: "I have never seen such an atmosphere in my life. I could not focus on the match.

"I asked for a headset and it did not help either. I still do not feel well."

Reports suggest Werner was suffering from "circulatory problems", which dizziness can indicate.

Speaking after Saturday's 2-1 win over Eintracht, he had said: "We will go to Istanbul without fear, Besiktas is not a Bayern Munich or Dortmund."

German media reported that circulatory problems brought on Werner's dizziness.
Leipzig went on to lose the match 2-0, with Ryan Babel and Talisca scoring the goals for Besiktas, who have now won two from two and are on course for the knockout stages.

Their coach Ralph Hasenhuttl said: 'It is impossible to prepare your team for an atmosphere like this. There was a deafening noise and at the start of the game we were a bit affected.
'We were not good in the first 20 minutes at all. But it was a lesson for all of us. I saw who I can count on in times like these.'
